How to Add Photos and Pictures to Amazon Echo Spot

The Amazon Echo Spot perfectly balances looks and performance. For one, this virtual assistant is compact and can fit anywhere. Its modern circular design means it blends easily with home decor items. And well, it comes with a screen. So whether it’s a YouTube video or a recipe for the perfect carrot cake, you can do a lot with it. Best of all, you can easily video chat with your friends and family.

And in addition to capabilities like checking your reminders and flight times, the Amazon Echo Spot can also be used as a digital photo frame. Yes, the Spot packs a screen brightness of 250 nits, which is strong enough to display pictures and photos in all their glory. Setting it up is not difficult and hardly takes much time.

1. Use the Echo Spot as a digital photo frame

If you want to add a standalone photo to your Echo Spot, you’ll need the help of your smartphone and the Alexa app. With this, the watch face is replaced with a small circular image. You can still see the time at the top.

Step 1: Launch the Amazon Echo app on your phone and tap Devices. Next, tap Echo & Alexa and select Echo Spot.

Step 2: Now, scroll down until you see the Home Screen Wallpaper option. Touch to select a photo from your phone’s gallery. Yes, it’s as simple as that.

The app allows you to zoom in on the image or crop the extra as per your preference. Actions are simple: pinch to zoom and pinch to crop.

After that, tap the Upload button and you’ll see the new background on your Echo Spot.

2. How to connect Facebook app to Echo Spot

If your Echo Spot only shows one picture all the time, it can get boring fast. The good news is that you can even have a slideshow of your favorite photos. The only limitation is that you cannot create any slideshow.

To do this, you will need to connect your Facebook account to the Echo Spot. Alternatively, you can also install Prime Photos. If that’s okay with you, let’s see how to get started.

Step 1: Open the Alexa app and open the menu on the left. Tap Settings and go to Photos.

Step 2: You will see the option to link your Facebook profile. Tap Link account, enter all your credentials and grant the required permissions.

After that, you will see the success message.

To try, just say, “Alexa, show my photos,” and Spot will show all the recent Facebook photos from your Facebook timeline. Cool right?

And the best thing is that it is a unique arrangement.

Step 1: Once you’ve connected your Facebook account to your Amazon account, pull down the Quick Settings menu on your Echo Spot.

Tap the Settings icon and select the Home and clock option from the list.

Step 2: Then tap the Clock and scroll down and select Personal Photos > Background. Here you’ll find options for Facebook and Amazon Prime photos.

Tap on Facebook and you will see all your albums on your Facebook profile.

Individual photos will not be displayed. Now, select one of the albums, and that’s it.

Step 3: At the same time, you can also change the style of the clock. Right now, the Echo Spot lets you choose from 8 different styles.

To change it, tap the Clock Style option and select one of them from the list. When done, tap Done to see your Echo Spot shine in a new light.

Please note that you will not be able to crop or zoom images in your Facebook photos. Therefore, some of the images may appear slightly pixelated.

cool tip: For best results, create a Facebook album that contains the best of your photos. Once this is done, you can enable that particular album in your Spot.

Try different watch faces

By default, the Spot has an analog watch face, and over time, it can get a little drab. In addition to images, if you want to try different clock styles and backgrounds on your Echo Spot. Fortunately, that is also possible. Right now, you can switch between different looks. I especially like the face of the Owl at the bottom of the Illustration.

To use a cool watch face, pull down the Quick settings menu and tap Settings. Next, go to Start & Clock > Clock and select one of the options.

Once that’s done, tap the little tick icon on the right, and you should be set.

Did you know: You can disable the option to show movie trailers. The option is available in Settings > Restrict access.
