Watch faces are perhaps one of the most important elements of a smartwatch. You’ll know everything at a glance, from step count to oxygen saturation to heart rate. The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch 4 allows you to customize the watch face according to your preferences. So whether you want to keep it clean or add a ton of widgets, you can do it all.
The good thing is that you can customize it from the Galaxy Wearable app, or you can download a third-party watch face app to add a different touch. And since Samsung has moved from Tizen OS to WearOS, the app design and the phone design are different. However, your heart is in the same place and you can make the necessary changes immediately.
Now that we’ve got that figured out, here’s how you can customize the watch faces on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch.
How to Customize Watch Faces On Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
Step 1: Open the Samsung Wearable app on your phone and tap Watch Faces.

Here, the current watch face and the available watch faces will be displayed clearly. If you want, you can switch to a more interactive watch face.
Step 2: Tap the Customize button and select the buttons labeled Complications. Select one of the complications and all supported widgets and complications will be displayed below.

Samsung Watch 4 offers many customizations. Just swipe up to see all available and select one from the list for all four positions. And if you want, you can also change the color of the second hand. Cool right?

Please note that the number of complication points available will vary for each watch face. Some allow you to display only two. Meanwhile, the Animals Watch Face can display four.
Customize watch faces by watch
Alternatively, you can also customize the watch face from the watch itself. To do this, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Touch and hold the watch face until it enters Edit mode, then touch Personalize.

Then swipe left to access the Complications page.
Step 2: Touch one of the supported complications. At this stage, you will be asked to provide the necessary permissions. Once this is done, the complication will be added immediately.

You can follow the same steps for all complications.
Naturally, the small screen space means it’s a bit difficult to see all the complications available on the watch alone. Therefore, it is advisable to customize the watch face through the Wearable app. Not only is this a hassle-free process, but it also saves time.
At the same time, you can choose one of the many watch faces and customize it accordingly.
Customize watch faces through a third-party app
In addition to the internal method, there are other apps that you can use to get a fancy watch face that you can customize later. The good thing is that WearOS supports some great third-party apps like Facer Watch Faces and Open Watch Face.
Facer Watch Faces (especially the free ones) don’t give you as many customization options as the built-in ones, but some of them are pretty fun and colorful. So why not try it? Furthermore, you can switch to a completely black look if you want to save battery life.
Finally, syncing the watch face from your smartphone to the Galaxy Watch 4 is not difficult and is done in a flash.
Step 1: Once you’ve selected the watch face on your phone, tap to open it. Next, click on the Options button, as shown in the screenshot below.

Depending on the watch face you select, it will show you the available complications. However, keep in mind that free skins have limited complications.
The watch face shown above has the option to change the watch face and the unit system. All you have to do is tap each one to change them.
Step 2: Once you’ve changed the complications, hold the watch face on your face and swipe left. Select Facer from the list.
Next, tap the Sync Watch Face button on your smartphone and the new watch face (with updated complications) will sync with your Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch.

Another app you can try is Open Watch Face. It has a flat design and allows you to play around with the complications. However, the graphics are not as sharp as you would like.
The default watch face shows the time in the middle, while the three complications are displayed above. Naturally, you are free to choose complications of your choice.

There is a small problem: the free version allows you to add only one complication and you have to upgrade to the premium version to use the rest.
bring the style
Watch Faces give a unique look to your wrist, and the best part is that you can choose the one that best suits your style and requirements. You can add your favorite watch faces to the recent list and switch between them as often as you like.
