Hogwarts Legacy continues to record strong sales numbers. In the UK the game remained number 1 in the sales charts for another week and now after five weeks it has surpassed the lifetime sales of Elden Ring in the UK.
No specific unit sales number has been released for Hogwarts Legacy in the UK. However, we do know that the numbers include digital and physical sales combined, for both Hogwarts Legacy and Elden Ring. Comparisons are drawn between the two games because both are huge hits that aren’t part of massive, ongoing video game franchises like perennial powerhouses Call of Duty and FIFA. Hogwarts Legacy, of course, is a Harry Potter game, and it benefits from the franchise’s fandom.
Hogwarts Legacy will grow even bigger as it launches on PS4 and Xbox One in May, followed by a release on Nintendo Switch this July.
Hogwarts Legacy got off to a flying start after its February release, selling 12 million copies and generating $850 million in revenue after its first two weeks worldwide. Those strong sales demonstrate the continuing appeal of the Harry Potter franchise, according to WB Discovery.
Outside of the game series, WB Discovery boss David Zaslav is said to be interested in creating more Harry Potter content, and one possibility is a live-action TV series for HBO Max.
